A SURPRISE, The BEACH & a new CUDDLE BUDDY

It seems like the last coupl weeks have been so busy, filled with lots of fun activities. I really wish I was better about taking pictures during some of these activities, but I did what I could and here are the results.

The first was Jason's Birthday. I decided to throw him a SURPRISE party for his 30th. I think he caught on driving home, but he was a good sport and acted surprised when he walked in the door. He came home to about 30 people in the kitchen yelling surprise & singing happy birthday.

People brought gag gifts for Jason - lots of Metamucil, some Polygrip, an Arthritis Today subscription - it was pretty fun.

I think Staci pulled the best gag with Jason's cake. As you can see - it says BYU's #1 Fan! Jason was a good sport about it, but quickly scratched out BYU. For those of you who don't know - Jason is a  U of U lover and a BYU hater.

Second, we headed west - to the BEACH. We thought it would be fun to take Emree to San Diego & have her experience the beach. She did really good. She observed everything around her, ate some lunch, and let her feet play in the sand.

 The third item we had to blog about was Emree's new CUDDLE BUDDY. We have found her multiple times cuddled up with a blanket - so we wondered what she would do with a little lamb - here's the result.

Emree is doing awesome. The sweetest little girl. She is still sleeping through the night. (I guess those pep talks we gave her while in the womb have worked :-} ). Her new accomplishments are giggling & starting to roll-over.

A special weekend

This past weekend was a special one for Emree. First, she was able to meet her Grandma & Grandpa Watson. She was so excited to see them. She smiled, ooed & awwed, and showed them how cute she was.
The second special activity of the weekend was her blessing. I was so nervous she would start crying, spit-up, or have a blow-out, but I should have known - this is Emree i'm talking about and she was perfect. Slept through the whole thing. She looked so darn cute in her white dress and big bow. Jason told me he thought it look like a mini wedding dress, but I thought it was adorable and so did everyone else.

After the blessing we had friends and family over for a little brunch. It was so fun to visit with everyone. It was the perfect ending to the perfect weekend.  Thank you everyone who came and enjoyed this special day with us.

9 weeks & growing

9 week stats:

Weight: 9lbs 15oz --25th percentile
Height: 22.5 in --60th percentile
Head Circ: 15in --40th percentile

She's growing like crazy, and getting more fun each and everyday. She loves to smile and hold "conversations" with you. Her little ooo's and aaaww's are so cute, and her smile melts our hearts. She thinks she is a big girl and wants to sit up by herself, she gives us high-5's (sort of), she sleeps 8-9 hours at night, she rarely fusses, and it breaks my heart to say - she loves to be by herself.

We love this little baby girl, and are so happy she is a part of our lives.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life!!

It has been an awesome journey from our first dance to today. I knew there was something special about you when we first met 14 years ago. Today I know that "specialness" includes, but is not limited to: a kind and caring person, a loyal friend, the perfect gentleman, a jokester, a companion, someone who looks out for everyone, and an easy person to love. I couldn't have asked for a better hubby - you are my everything.

Camera Happy

Just a couple pics of Emree over the past month. We are hoping eventually she'll like wearing a tutu, she will allow us to take her picture without covering her face with her hands, and she'll forgive us for putting her in a bowl of apples and a drawer.

We love you Emree J.

Goodbye & Hello

The time has come to say GOODBYE to the things that have given me comfort over the past few months: candy, cookies, ice cream, french fries, the list goes on and on and on

.....and it's time to say HELLO to the things I don't necessary love as much, but I appreciate: Mr. Treadmill, Jillian Michaels, Bob Gunner, Debi Severs, Tony Horton, Mr. Pool, The streets of Laveen, Group X, the list goes on and on and on.

I told myself while I was pregnant, I think I should run a 1/2 marathon sometime in the spring...and that voice keeps talking to me, so I guess it is time I start my training. I'm not sure I can do it, but putting "the idea of it" in the blogging world makes me stick to the training.

1 month --- already???

Where does the time go? I swear it was just yesterday they placed Emree in my arms for the first time.

The first month was a success. She is still the best baby EVER. She loves to sleep, she eats great, burps like a champ most of the time & hangs out in the daytime - taking it all in. It has been so fun getting to know her little personality. So far she is a pretty relaxed girl.

We had our 1 month check-up yesterday, and Emree has been growing. The doctor told me "she's little for her age, but she has made great progress over the past month."

4 days old her stats were:

Weight = 5lbs 11oz (5th percentile)

Height = 19.5 in (30th percentile)

Head Circ. = 13.3 in (15th percentile)

31 days old her stats were:

Weight = 8lbs (20th percentile)

Height = 20.5 (35th percentile)

Head Circ. = 14.3 in (40th percentile)

I personally like how little she is. It is so fun to snuggle with her, especially when she curls up into a ball.

A little bit of me, or a whole lot of you???

Most people say..."oh, she looks just like Jason - she is definitely a Watson." But then you see our baby pictures and people start singing a different tune - "oh, she looks just like Ashlee did as a baby, now all I see when I look at her is Ashlee."

Anyway you slice it... she is a little of both of us. Some days she pulls faces that look more like one of us and the next day - it's totally different. Either way, we'll keep her.

What do you think???

A couple first's

It's hard to get a variety of picture at this stage because most of the time she is sleeping & i'm sure you don't want to look at dozens of sleeping pictures. Luckily, she cooperated in some of the pictures.

The last two weeks have been wonderful. Here are some of Emree's 1st.

First ride in the car seat. I never thought I would be "that mom" that sat in the back while the husband drove, but I was so nervous she wouldn't be able to breathe. She did great & slept the whole car ride.
Her first bath at home. She looks like she is crying, but she was just pulling a face. She actually loved the bath and was very patient with us. We have a squirt bottle to wash her hair, and she loves it. She acts like she is in the salon getting her hair professionally washed.

Getting dressed in her first "real" outfit. The hospital was great, but all they had was 6mo shirts they put her in. She was having trouble keeping her body temp up after she was born, so the hospital used a shirt as her bottoms - the arm holes were used as leg holes. She still doesn't fit into many things, so we rotate 4 jammies. They are so soft and comfy.

Worst part about being a parent is not being able to protect your kids. Emree, we are sorry we let the nurse prick your heels.

Emree's first Christmas at Papa and Ma's house. Emree we are sorry we didn't get you a gift - we'll make up for it next year. We were able to spend 4 days at my parents house. We had such a wonderful time with my parents and the Vega's. Thanks for doing everything and taking care of us. Christmas was so enjoyable, just hanging out - playing games, eating junk and watching movies.

First sleepover with Cousin Bodie. His famous first phrases about Emree include: "she's so tiny... She's so cute....That's my big cousin Em-or-ree...What's that's name - she's my best friend"
Both Bodie and Abby were very gentle with Emree. You could tell Bodie really wanted to kiss her, but I think he knew Staci was watching and he didn't want to get into trouble.

Emree's first Christmas jammies. and yes...this is one of the four we rotate.

Christmas day - doing what she does best. She loves her dad & i'm pretty sure she has Jason wrapped around her little finger.

This is how we usually find her. We try really hard to swaddle her with her hands by her sides, but somehow she works them out and has them either on her face or close by. We shouldn't be surprised because every ultrasound picture we took her hands were by her face.

This is another picture I had to include - doesn't show much, just how well she can roll into a ball.
